Our process

How we get it right, every batch

Seven stages, the same for all eight grades. Keep scrolling — the line moves sideways as you go.

01

Paddy intake

Paddy arrives and is fed into the line, chosen for consistent moisture, grain size and purity.

Checked forMoisture, size, purity
02

Cleaning

Straw, stones, dust and heavy foreign matter are taken out before anything else happens to the grain.

03

Steaming and drying

Steam gelatinises the starch so the grain mills stronger; it is then dried and rested in silo until the moisture is even throughout.

04

Husking

The outer husk comes off to leave brown rice, and anything still unhusked is separated out and sent back round.

Husker · Paddy separator

05

Whitening and polish

Bran layers are removed with as little breakage as possible, broken kernels are sifted out, and the grain is given its finish.

06

Sortex and grading

Optical sensors pull out discoloured and damaged grains, then the stream is separated by length into the eight named grades.

Checked and packed

A metal detector clears the stream before the rice is weighed, packed and sealed for dispatch.
